On 7 August 2016, Ambassador Wen Zhenshun  has sent condolences letter to Mr. Koce Trajanovski, Mayor of the City of Skopje, for the victimes from the storm that swept Skopje and its suburbs on 6 August, expressing condolences and deep sympathy .

Ambassador Wen Zhenshun said," In these difficult moments for the families of the victims, I would like to express the deepest condolences and wish for a fast reconstruction of devastated homes and quick restoration of ravaged region."

The Macedonian Government decided to declare 8 August a Day of Mourning, thus the whole nation's flags flew at half-mast to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the floods. The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Macedonia also flew its flag at half-mast to express condolences.
