|Yang Jiechi: Hope Both the United States (US) and Russia Can Return to the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty|
On February 16, 2019 local time, after delivering a keynote speech at the 55th Munich Security Conference in Munich, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi answered on-site relevant questions on the United States (US) and Russia's successive withdrawal from and suspension of the implementation of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
Yang Jiechi stressed that China firmly advocated maintaining global strategic stability. The unilateral declaration by the US to withdraw from the INF Treaty has serious consequences, and has drawn widespread concern from the international community. The Chinese side hopes the US and Russia can get back to the INF Treaty and is opposed to the multilaterlization of the INF Treaty.
