Li Keqiang Meets with Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon of the Republic of Korea (ROK)

On March 28, 2019, Premier Li Keqiang met in Boao of Hainan Province with Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon of the Republic of Korea (ROK), who was in China for the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2019.

Li Keqiang expressed that both China and the ROK are major economies in the world, important countries in the region and one of each other's major trading partners. We are willing to work with the ROK side to increase mutual trust, intensify exchanges, enhance cooperation and promote the bilateral relations for new progress.

Li Keqiang pointed out that China and the ROK have strong economic complementarity. It is hoped that the two sides will better dovetail their development strategies, fully tap into cooperation potential, expand bilateral trade and investment and actively carry out third-party market cooperation.

Li Keqiang stressed that the Chinese side is willing to work with the ROK and Japan in hastening the negotiation process of a free trade zone among the three countries, promoting regional economic integration and maintaining regional prosperity and stability.

Lee Nak-yeon expressed that the ROK and China are important neighboring countries, and bilateral relations and cooperation have experienced substantial development since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The ROK side is willing to actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, deepen cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side and work together to maintain multilateralism and free trade.
