Xi Jinping Meets with Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan of Vietnam

On July 12, 2019, President Xi Jinping met with Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan of Vietnam at the Great Hall of the People.

Xi Jinping asked Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to convey his sincere greetings to General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong. Xi Jinping pointed out, China and Vietnam are comrades and brothers and also a community of shared future with strategic significance. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between China and Vietnam. The two sides need to stay true to the original aspirations, look at the big picture, carry forward their friendship and deepen cooperation so as to elevate bilateral relations to new highs from a new starting point. The two sides should make good use of the traditional advantages of inter-party exchanges, deepen experience exchanges in party governance and state administration, and learn from each other's theoretical innovations in a bid to maintain vitality of the two Parties and jointly push forward robust development of the socialist cause. The two countries should enhance the integration of development strategies, take the integration cooperation between the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" as a mainline, promote the upgrading and improvement of practical cooperation between the two countries and build a mutually beneficial and win-win comprehensive cooperation pattern. The two sides should intensify non-governmental exchanges to pass on their friendship from generation to generation. Both sides should act in line with the fundamental interests of the two countries and the two peoples, earnestly implement the consensus reached by the high-level leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, and safeguard maritime peace and stability with concrete actions. Both sides should enhance coordination and cooperation in international affairs to safeguard their common interests.

Xi Jinping said, cooperation between legislative bodies, as an important part of bilateral relations, is of great significance for enhancing mutual learning and promoting nation-building. In recent years, the National People's Congress of China and the National Assembly of Vietnam have enjoyed frequent exchanges and interaction, with fruitful cooperation results, exploring new ideas for building socialist democracy and legal system and also providing guarantee for practical cooperation between the two countries. It is hoped that the two sides will further enhance exchanges and cooperation, and work harder in leading public opinions and promoting mutual understanding between the two peoples to make greater contributions to consolidating the public opinion foundation of China-Vietnam relations.

Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan conveyed General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong's warm regards and best wishes to Xi Jinping. She said, the Communist Party of Vietnam, Vietnam and Vietnamese will never forget the valuable support and assistance provided by Chinese comrades in the past and today. It is believed that Chinese comrades will be certain to accomplish the significant development goals set at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core. The Vietnamese side is willing to work with the Chinese side to follow the guidance of the strategic consensus reached by the leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, firmly support each other on the socialist development path, carry forward traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and effectively manage differences, so as to push bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership for greater development.
