To celebrate the 89th anniversary of the Founding of the People's Liberation Army, Senior Colonel ZHU Jun, Defence Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Macedonia, hosted a reception in Hotel Aleksandar Palace on 28th July, 2016. Also presented at the reception were H. E. Ambassador Wen Zhenshun and other diplomats of the Embassy.

Deputy Minister of Defense Mr. Bekim Maksuti, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilija Isajlovski, Military Affairs Adviser to President Ivanov, Lieutenant General Gorancho Koteski, Deputy Commander of Joint Operation Command of the Army of Republic of Macedonia Brigade General Arsoski and other distinguished guests attended the reception. In total, almost 200 guests from the Ministry of Defense, ARM General Staff, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economy, military  Attachés of the diplomatic corps  as well as representatives from overseas Chinese community and Chinese companies joined the celebration.

In his speech, Sr. Col. ZHU said that China has pursued a national defense policy that is defensive in nature for a long time. In recent years, along with the enhancement of China's national power, its military budget increased, but its defensive nature has not changed and it will not change, emphasized Sr. Col. ZHU. He briefed the guests with the information on China starting a new defense and military reform, emphasizing that China's military reform is fully in accordance with its national defense policy. He said that Chinese People's Liberation Army is conducting all kinds of exchanges and cooperation with the armed forces of other countries including the Republic of Macedonia to strengthen understanding, deepen mutual trust and contribute to maintaining world peace and security.

The guests sent their congratulations for the 89th anniversary of the PLA's Founding and expressed admiration for China committing to maintaining world peace and stability, and achievement of China's and Chinese PLA's development.

During the reception, there was the presentation of the film "The PLA of Today" and the 150 pieces of pamphlet (English and Macedonian languages) designed and printed specially for the celebration event, which caused the great interests from the guests.
