On June 6, 2014, State Councilor Yang Jiechi held the 10th round of China-Russia Strategic Security Consultation with Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. The two sides made an in-depth exchange of views on China-Russia relations, international and regional security situations and relevant hotspot issues, and they have reached a high degree of consensus.

Both sides agreed that under the current complicated and changing international situation, the unstable and uncertain factors affecting international and regional security are increasing. As permanent members of the UN Security Council and comprehensive strategic partners of coordination with high mutual trust, China and Russia should further implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, enhance strategic communication and coordination, deepen practical cooperation in fields including diplomacy, economy, trade, defense and anti-terrorism, advocate and practice the purposes and principles of the UN Charter in international relations, work together dealing with various threats and challenges, and safeguard respective sovereignty, security and development interests, so as to promote world and regional peace, stability and development.
