November 27, 2009, Ambassador Dong Chunfeng attended the closing ceremony of Kozjak power plant contract.

Ambassador Dong said, Kozjak Hydropower project was by far the largest project of cooperation between Macedonia and China, and it was the Macedonian largest hydropower project. Chinese government provided 87 million U.S. dollars in financial support in the form of loans to Macedonia during difficult times of Macedonian people. Sinohydro Company formally took over the project in late 2002, and used 20 months to realize the successful commercial operation of the project. After the checking of the 2nd unit of the plant, Chinese technical team found all the indexes of the plant reach or exceed European standards. This marked a perfect ending of Kozjak power plant contract. The plant contributed a lot to the economic development of Macedonia during 5 years’ operation.

           

Dong ambassador also said that, the understanding and friendship between the people of Macedonia and China deepened through the construction of Kozjak power plant. He sincerely hoped that Macedonia will further the energy cooperation between two countries in the future.
