February 10, 2010, Chinese Embassy held founding ceremony for House of Chinese Culture in Macedonian State University Library, Vice Foreign Minister Petrov, Vice Minister of Culture Nedeljkovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Stefanovski, director for bilateral relations in Macedonia Foreign Ministry Stojceski, head of State University Library, chairwoman of parliamentary group of the ruling party， president of Macedonia-China Parliamentary Friendship Group Boneva, mayor of Skopje Centre Todorovic, president of Macedonia-China Friendship Association Korobar, ambassadors from other countries in Macedonia, overseas Chinese, Chinese teacher, the mainstream media etc, all together about 200 people attended the ceremony.

Head of State University Library Boshevski addressed the ceremony. He said that the State University had set up Chinese language teaching class, the public's interest in learning Chinese were increasing. Cultural exchange is the communication of heart; the establishment of House of Chinese Culture would help the Macedonian people to understand China better, and promote good bilateral relations between two countries.

Deputy Minister of Culture Nedeljkovic said, cultural exchanges was of great significance in strengthening ties between the two countries, both Ministries of Culture signed 2008-2011 cultural cooperation program in 2007, the opening of the house was the concrete result of the cooperation between two countries.

Ambassador Dong Chunfeng said, China had five thousand years of civilization, Chinese civilization always communicated and blended with other civilizations. The long history of Chinese culture shaped the human character and moral standards of the Chinese nation, also played an enormous impact on economic and social development in China. In recent years, China exchanged and cooperated with the world more frequently; the world's interest in China was gradually increased. The establishment of House of Chinese Culture conformed to the requirements of the times, was also in line with the level of development of bilateral relations between the two countries. As an important window and bridge, it would help Macedonian people to understand China better.

Subsequently, Ambassador Dong, Nedeljkovic and Boshevski cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

All the guests that attended the founding ceremony regarded that House of Chinese Culture as an important window to understand China, to enhance mutual understanding and friendly cooperation between the two countries and peoples, wished it become better and better.

Funded by the Chinese Embassy in Macedonia, Home of Chinese culture borrowed 50 square meters from State University Library, and also got great help and support from Macedonian government. It is a fresh cultural cooperation between two countries and will provide the Macedonian people books, newspapers, magazines, CDs in English and Chinese, etc, Chinese embassy will organize activities to promote Chinese culture in due time.
